Discount Calculator

Calculate discount, final price, or original price.

No saved calculations yet

A discount calculator removes guesswork from shopping. Whether you're hunting for the best deal, verifying a retailer's claim, or computing markdown rates for your own store, you need three numbers: the original price, the discount percentage, and the final price. Any one of these can be the unknown. This tool solves all three directions instantly, so you always know exactly how much you're saving — or charging.

📊

Example Calculation

Original price: $80
Discount: 25%

Discount amount = $80 × 0.25 = $20
Final price = $80 − $20 = $60
You save $20 (25% off).
🔢

Formulas

Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100)
Discount Amount = Original Price × (Discount% ÷ 100)
Discount% = (1 − Final ÷ Original) × 100
Original Price = Final Price ÷ (1 − Discount% ÷ 100)
💡

How Discount Calculation Works

To find the discounted price, multiply the original price by the discount rate and subtract from the original. To find the discount percentage, divide the savings by the original price and multiply by 100. To recover the original price from a final price and a known percentage, divide the final price by (1 minus the rate).

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 20% off $50 come to?

$50 × 0.20 = $10 discount. Final price = $40.

Can I stack two discounts?

Apply them sequentially, not additively. 20% off then 10% off a $100 item = $80 then $72 — not 30% off ($70).

How do I find the original price from a sale price?

Divide the sale price by (1 − discount rate). E.g. $60 after 25% off → $60 ÷ 0.75 = $80.

Is 'buy one get one 50% off' better than 25% off everything?

BOGO 50% off saves 25% per pair, same as 25% off — but only if you buy in pairs.
